On April 24, 2026, the Zhuhai-Hong Kong-Macao Biomedical Industry Innovation Development Conference was held in Jinwan, Zhuhai. At the conference, the People's Government of Jinwan District, Zhuhai Health Bureau, and the Guangdong Institute officially signed the "Brain-Inspired Intelligence Industry Collaborative Empowerment Cooperation Agreement." In the academic report session of the conference, Academician Zhang Xu shared the latest research achievements of the Guangdong Institute in brain-inspired computing, intuitive neural networks, and brain-computer interfaces under the title "Human Intelligence and Brain-Inspired Intelligence."
He pointed out that brain-inspired intelligence is opening up new spaces for medical and health fields such as brain-computer interfaces, neural rehabilitation, and brain disease treatment. Jinwan District, with its solid biomedical industry foundation and complete clinical medical resources, is an ideal fertile ground for the transformation and implementation of brain-inspired technology.

According to the agreement, the three parties will carry out collaborative empowerment cooperation including the joint construction of the "Jinwan Brain-Inspired Intelligence Industry Technology Research Center."
The cooperation will gather high-end industrial capacity in brain-inspired intelligence, carry out technology pilot testing, scenario verification, enterprise incubation, industrial implementation, and capital empowerment, effectively breaking through the transformation barriers from scientific research to application, achieving regional industrial quality upgrading, and helping the high-quality development of science and technology industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
